Crash Reporting
How to enable or disable automatic crash reporting in Foom and what information is included.
How do I enable or disable automatic crash reporting?
During a browser’s software development process, updating code with new features or functionality can sometimes introduce bugs. These can range from small cosmetic issues to serious stability problems that cause the browser to crash.
Developers use crash reports to help diagnose what may be causing crashes. Crash reports contain specific information about the state of the browser and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
To enable or disable automatic crash reporting
- Launch Foom and open the main menu.
- Click Settings.
- Click Privacy and Security.
- Scroll down to Data Collection.
- Toggle Automatically send diagnostic reports to Foom on or off.
You can also enable or disable automatic crash reporting during onboarding. Foom will never intentionally collect your user data. However, because crash reports are designed to help diagnose issues by analyzing browser state at crash time, some personal data may be sent as part of a report.
What information is sent in a crash report?
The exact set of diagnostics can vary by software and vendor. When crash reports are sent to Foom, metadata may include:
- Foom version: Version of Foom running at the time of crash.
- Foom channel: Which build was used (for example: Developer, Beta, Release).
- CPU information: Processor details such as model, core count, and CPU family.
- Operating system: OS name and version.
- Date and time signature.
